Open Competition for a Scientific Position

The Sukhumi Ilia Vekua Institute of Physics and Technology announces an open competition for the following scientific position: Head of the Laboratory of Chemical Technologies, Principal Research Scientist - 1 (one) full-time position

Salary - 1863 GEL.

Competition conditions:

Functions: - Performs and organizes the execution of scientific-research work (SRW), determines their development prospects, selects methods and means for conducting research, for scientific-technical tasks submitted to scientific-research subdivisions, in particular: - Development of nanotechnologies and production of ultradisperse powders of various types of oxide and non-oxide compounds; - Development of powder composites and production of modern materials from them: determination of their physical-mechanical and chemical properties; - Production of various functional purpose products and determination of their operational characteristics; - Development of chemical methods for solving ecological problems; - Introduction of new technologies to solve laboratory tasks. - Develops and submits proposals to the institute's scientific leadership on the laboratory's prospective projects and annual plans, development of subdivisions, improvement of SRW; - Establishes relationships with potential customers of SRW on technical issues for its implementation; - Leads the development of technical tasks, its technical and economic justification, and work schedules; - Submits to the institute's leadership a list of persons necessary for the implementation of planned SRW (from the laboratory and institute's staff); - Personally participates in the implementation of SRW, monitors the quality of work performed by co-executors; - Prepares reporting documentation on completed SRW for submission of a report to the Scientific Council; - Organization and responsibility for preparing materials and contractual documentation necessary for cooperation with other organizations on the laboratory's profile; - Organization of the laboratory's scientific work inclusion in state or international scientific grants; - Determination of the laboratory's needs in material and financial resources, organization of preparation and submission of relevant applications according to established rules; - Participation in the work of working groups and commissions within the competence; - Performance of other tasks and instructions of the directorate within the competence.

The contestant must have: - A doctoral or equivalent academic degree; - At least 6 years of experience in scientific research activities corresponding to the laboratory's scientific and technological directions (ceramic and polymer composite materials and products, chemical methods for solving ecological safety problems, and other modern directions); - The contestant must fully master the state language and have a good command of English and/or Russian; - The contestant must have a good command of the following computer programs – Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, and the Internet.
