Working as a school nurse requires: not being incompatible a person with higher medical education who has a state certificate confirming the right to independent nursing activities in the nursing specialty defined by this rule and performs leading, main activities at the school within the competence established by this rule in a higher educational institution, a document confirming medical education recognized by the legislation of Georgia and a state certificate confirming the right to independent nursing activities in one of the following specialties: - "Pediatrics"; - "Family Medicine"; - "General Profile Doctor Pediatrician".

The competence of the school nurse is: - to respond immediately to an emergency situation related to the health of a student or school staff (trauma, injury, burn, acute pain, poisoning, asphyxia, convulsion, shock, loss of consciousness, fever, and other similar conditions); - to assess the severity of the condition and make a decision to call for emergency medical assistance; - within the scope of access to the electronic management system of the primary healthcare medical institution, if necessary, in accordance with the procedure established by law, to search for existing information about the student's/staff's health and to consider it when making decisions related to treatment; - taking into account the student's condition, to address the school administration (in a form agreed upon by the school management) to release them from the educational process, to contact the student's parents/legal representative and provide information about the student's health condition; - to record medical appeals in the medical case record journal and to enter information about the provided medical assistance into the accounting form of medical services provided at the school (Annex N1.1); - to assess environmental factors at the school that contain risks of physical injury (falling from a height, falling, inflicting wounds, burns, etc.); to take preventive measures; to notify the relevant responsible person at the school about the presence of a hazard and to supervise the process of complete elimination of the hazard;

Perform medical check-ups periodically: - To detect and prevent complications of diseases common among children, such as scoliosis, flat or valgus feet, other disorders related to posture, vision and speech disorders, and oral diseases; - To assess the student's anthropometric data to determine compliance with age norms; - To prevent pediculosis; - Provide medical supervision to students with chronic diseases and those who are often ill, based on information received from parents/legal representatives; - Communicate with parents/legal representatives of students who have health problems detected during medical check-ups and provide necessary recommendations; - Take necessary measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the school. If necessary, contact relevant authorities; - Supervise student immunization issues (requesting and reviewing documents from parents/legal representatives that reflect the history of planned and unplanned vaccinations, and providing information on the need for vaccination according to the national vaccination calendar); - Conduct awareness-raising activities with students, parents, and teachers on healthy lifestyles, overcoming bad habits, personal hygiene, health promotion, including adolescent reproductive health, risks of early marriage, and more; - Supervise the school's sanitary and hygienic conditions. Provide information to the cleaning staff on cleaning procedures, solutions, cleaning regimes, waste management, and other related details; - Ensure that requirements for drinking water and food safety in the school are met; - Participate in developing the student's daily routine, class schedule, and break schedule; - Inform the school administration, social services, and other relevant authorities if violence, abuse, or similar facts are detected against a student, in accordance with the law; - In cases of suspected, substantiated suspicion, or confirmed violence against an adolescent, complete documentation on violence against children/sexual violence, along with the medical service record form provided in the school, in accordance with the "Procedure for Maintaining Ambulatory Medical Documentation"; - Analyze accumulated information throughout the year; - Protect personal data in accordance with the law.

Additional requirements: - The school nurse is not allowed to engage in parallel professional activities during the working hours determined by the educational institution. - It is desirable to have at least one year of experience working in a hospital/polyclinic or working with children in the medical field. - Must have simple communication skills. - Constantly take care of their professional development. - Be responsible for their activities.
