Position description:

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing electrical works at the construction site, technical coordination, and quality control. The position includes monitoring the installation of electrical systems, evaluating drawings and technical documentation, coordinating with contractors and other project teams, as well as controlling testing, commissioning, and final handover processes.

Key responsibilities:

Construction management and site supervision of electrical works:

Supervise and monitor all electrical works performed by the main contractor, subcontractors, and other contractors on the site; Control the execution of electrical works in accordance with the latest approved drawings, specifications, work methodologies, and project requirements; Monitor the quality of execution, sequence of works, access to workspaces, and readiness of work fronts; Identify deviations, incomplete works, low-quality works, and installations that do not meet requirements, and control corrective actions; Coordinate daily and weekly priorities related to electrical works with the Construction Manager and relevant project teams; Monitor contractor personnel, equipment, and productivity related to electrical works, and provide information on resource deficiencies that affect progress; Provide timely technical consultations and practical solutions to issues arising during electrical works on the site.

Technical inspection and coordination:

• Review of electrical installation drawings, technical submissions, coordination drawings, calculations, and work methodologies from a construction and technical perspective;

• Verification of electrical installation drawings for compliance with approved design documentation, specifications, and interface requirements;

• Identification of design discrepancies, constructability issues, insufficient information, and coordination conflicts between different disciplines prior to commencement of work;

• Support in reviewing and preparing RFIs, technical queries, site instructions, and design clarifications related to electrical works;

• Coordination of electrical works with structural, architectural, and mechanical works to minimize clashes, rework, and delays;

• Coordination with other disciplines on the layout of sleeves, openings, embeddable elements, technical rooms, vertical shafts, ducts, ceiling zones, and engineering network routes;

• Control of resolving technical issues in electrical engineering with the design coordination team, consultants, and contractors.

Electrical Systems and Interfaces:

• Monitoring of installation and coordination of MV/LV electrical distribution systems within the project scope;
• Monitoring of transformers, generators, UPS systems, ATS panels, main and secondary distribution boards, busducts, and relevant electrical distribution equipment, where provided within the project scope;

• Monitoring of cable trays, conduits, cables, lighting, emergency lighting, low-power systems, and electrical connections of devices;

• Monitoring of earthing, equipotential bonding, and lightning protection systems and verification of continuity and interface requirements;

• Coordination of electrical supply and interfaces for mechanical equipment, pumps, HVAC systems, fire-fighting systems, and other engineering systems;

• Coordination of ELV systems and their interfaces, including fire alarm, ICT/data, CCTV, access control, and other systems, if provided within the project scope;

• Ensuring proper coordination of electrical installation requirements in technical rooms, shafts, ducts, ceilings, and common areas.

Quality Control and Inspection:

• Coordination of inspection of electrical works with the main contractor, consultants and relevant project teams;

• Ensuring that works which will subsequently be covered or become inaccessible are inspected before covering or commencement of subsequent works;

• Control of execution of approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), checklists and quality procedures for electrical works;

• Verification of installed materials and equipment compliance with approved material submissions and technical specifications;

• Identification of non-compliant electrical works, support for issuance of NCRs as necessary, and control of rectification and closure process;

• Verification of completeness and compliance with technical requirements of inspection records, test reports and quality documentation;

• Control of Punch List issues and outstanding electrical works until fully and satisfactorily completed.

Material submissions and procurement support:

• Review of technical submissions for electrical materials and equipment and provision of technical comments and recommendations;

• Verification of proposed materials and equipment compliance with project specifications, approved design, performance requirements and relevant standards;
