The goal of the small family-type home is to provide children in care with an environment similar to a family and to prepare them for independent living.

Key responsibilities:

  • To keep a personal file for each beneficiary, detailing their psychological state;
  • Within the scope of their competence, to identify cases of violence against children in care and to immediately inform the leader/educator of the small family-type home and the program manager;
  • If a case of violence is identified, to provide psychological assistance to the child, in agreement with the educator, leader/educator of the small family-type home, and program manager;
  • To participate in the development and implementation of an individual service plan for the child, along with other specialists involved in managing the case of violence;
  • To investigate the psychological causes of a beneficiary's academic lag and asocial behavior and to conduct relevant corrective work within their competence (group and individual);
  • To facilitate the identification and optimal direction of a beneficiary's potential and individuality;
  • To use various techniques, such as testing and interviews, to monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of psychological work;
  • To provide consultations to employees of the small family-type home, if necessary;
  • To offer assistance to beneficiaries' parents/family members through consultations (if they wish);
  • To provide the leader/educator of the small family-type home and program manager with information on progress, possible problems, or unforeseen changes;
  • To submit a written report on work performed to the program manager at agreed-upon intervals.

Qualification requirements:

** Higher education (Psychology; it is desirable to have completed a training course for educators, which is agreed upon by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia);

** At least two years of experience working with children and adolescents (experience working with children with challenging behavior is desirable);

** Ability to work in a stressful environment, experience in managing crisis situations;

** Good communication skills, experience working in a team;

** Perfect knowledge of the Georgian language;

** Intermediate knowledge of office programs;

** Writing and analytical skills.

Personal characteristics:

** Respect for other nationalities, religions, and views;

** Ability to perform work with minimal supervision;

** Establishing and maintaining successful and goal-oriented relationships;

** Professional, conscientious, and loyal;

** Strong teamworking skills, correct management of daily relationships with colleagues;

** Desirable: knowledge of the charity/volunteer sector;

** Empathetic.
