Collection Curator

"National Botanical Garden of Georgia" is a cultural heritage site, a scientific-research and eco-educational institution, which is one of the distinctive landmarks of the capital city.

The LEPL "National Botanical Garden of Georgia" announces a vacancy for the position of Collection Curator (Bonsai) at the Department of Decorative Plant Collections and Garden Design.

Workplace: Tbilisi, Botanikuri St. #1

Work schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:30-17:30

Remuneration: 1920 GEL (accrued)*

*Note: The accrued salary is subject to taxes as provided by Georgian legislation.

Functions and responsibilities:

Curation of the bonsai collection: taxonomic record-keeping, protection, preservation, and planning for updates;

Coordination with the plant protection group to monitor the collection for pests and diseases, conduct field research, and participate in control measures;

Selection and study of new plant species for introduction and enrichment of the collection, and their conservation;

Periodic inventory, documentation, labeling, and preparation of interpretive materials for the collection;

Participation in the garden's educational and public programs and ensuring the collection's accessibility.

Qualification requirements:

Bachelor's degree or professional education in botany, horticulture, agricultural sciences, or landscape design (master's or doctoral degree will be considered an advantage);

At least 2 years of experience working in a similar field (a letter of recommendation is desirable);

Knowledge of basic principles of botany and horticulture;

Ability to use plant databases, online resources, and special literature;

English language proficiency at a minimum B1-B2 level and proficiency in MS Office.

Organizational skills, attention to detail, and high sense of responsibility.
