Academic Positions

LLC "Batumi Navigation University" (hereinafter - BNU) announces an open competition for academic positions (hereinafter - competition) in the following fields:

1. Marine Science, including:

1.1. Marine Navigation - Professor (academic position) - 1 vacancy;

1.2. Marine Geography - Associate Professor (academic position) - 1 vacancy;

1.3. Prevention of Marine Environmental Pollution - Associate Professor (professional position) - 1 vacancy;

1.4. Branch Medicine - Professor (academic position) - 2 vacancies;

2. Business and Administration, including:

2.1. Business Administration - Professor (academic position) - 1 vacancy;

2.2. Logistics - Professor (academic position) - 1 vacancy;

3. History (History of Georgia); Professor (academic position) - 1 vacancy;

4. Political Science: Professor (academic position) - 1 vacancy;

The qualification requirements and selection criteria are determined by the Georgian Law "On Higher Education", "Procedure for Conducting a Competition for Academic Positions at BNU", and in the case of vacancies in the field of Marine Science - also by the Sectoral Characteristics of Higher Education in Marine Science. Specifically:

2.1. Marine Navigation

For the selection of a Professor - academic position, a doctoral or equivalent academic degree, at least 6 years of experience in scientific-pedagogical work in the relevant field, and requirements established by the sectoral characteristics of Marine Science are required: the candidate must have a document confirming at least a bachelor's academic degree or equivalent qualification in the field of Marine Science. The candidate must have at least 36 months of approved navigation experience on a ship with a total capacity of over 3000 tons; including 12 months of approved navigation experience at the management level (Captain or Senior Assistant to the Captain).

2.2. Marine Geography

For the selection of an Associate Professor - academic position, a doctoral or equivalent academic degree, at least 3 years of experience in scientific-pedagogical work in the relevant field are required.

2.3. Prevention of Marine Environmental Pollution

For the selection of an Associate Professor - professional position, higher education, at least 3 years of pedagogical work experience, and professional experience in the relevant field (at least 3 years), special training and/or publications, and requirements established by the sectoral characteristics of Marine Science are required. The candidate must meet one of the following requirements:

a) Have at least 36 months of approved seafaring experience on a ship with a total capacity of more than 3000 tons; including 12 months of approved seafaring experience at the management level (Captain and/or Chief Officer).

b) Have at least 36 months of approved seafaring experience on a ship with a main propulsion engine of 3000 kW power; including 12 months of approved seafaring experience at the management level (Chief Engineer or Second Engineer).

c) Possess a higher education document in maritime or/and higher legal (including maritime law) and have at least 3 years of experience working in the maritime field or a document confirming education/training related to methods and means of preventing marine pollution by ships.

d) Possess a master's academic degree or equivalent qualification and have at least five years of experience teaching higher education courses relevant to the field.

2.4. Medical Sciences

Professor - for academic selection - doctoral or equivalent academic degree, at least 6 years of experience in scientific-pedagogical work in the relevant field and requirements established by the sectoral characteristics of maritime science: must meet one of the following requirements:

a) Be a practicing physician and have at least 24 (twenty-four) months of continuous experience in medical treatment activities;

b) Have the right to medical activity and have at least 36 (thirty-six) months of experience in medical treatment activities within the last 10 years;

c) Have 3 years of experience working in the maritime field related to the aspect of the field and have the right to medical activity;

d) Possess a diploma of a medical doctor or equivalent qualification and have at least five years of experience teaching higher education courses relevant to the field.

2.5. Business Administration

Professor - for academic selection - doctoral or equivalent academic degree, at least 6 years of experience in scientific-pedagogical work in the relevant field:

Professor - for selection on an academic basis - a doctoral or equivalent academic degree, at least 6 years of experience in scientific and pedagogical work in the relevant field:

Documents to be submitted for the competition:

1. Application addressed to the Chairman of the Competition Commission;

2. A copy of the identity document (ID card/ID card), in case of foreign citizenship - a copy of the passport/identity card and a notarized Georgian translation;

3. A document confirming higher education (in case of education/qualification obtained abroad, a document on recognition of education issued by the National Center for Educational Quality Assessment and a notarized Georgian translation of the document confirming higher education);
