A 24-hour shelter for homeless children combines a day center and a crisis intervention shelter.

The goal of the day center is to assess children referred by a mobile team or otherwise involved in the service, provide psychological and medical assistance based on identified needs, and offer formal and informal education to gradually detach children from street life and stably integrate them into the day center services, with the aim of placing them in 24-hour transitional services or other services.

The crisis intervention shelter operates in conjunction with the day center, and its main goal is to provide emergency shelter and assistance to children in crisis situations (those found unsupervised on the streets, left without housing, victims of violence, etc.), meet their primary medical and psycho-emotional needs, and determine a long-term care plan for the child.

Position Title: Caregiver Location: Tbilisi, Gldani Working Hours: 40 hours per week (with summarized accounting)

Work Schedule: Shifts every 4 days, 24-hour shift. During vacations/ sick leaves, the schedule may change as follows: shifts from 7:00 pm to 10:00 am, every 2 days.

Position Purpose: Ensuring the physical and emotional safety of the day center and crisis intervention shelter's residents, increasing children's awareness of vital skills, health, and self-care skills, and involving them in informal education activities

Main Responsibilities

• To supervise the physical and emotional safety of the child during their stay at the center;
• To raise children's awareness and provide information on vital skills, health, and self-care;
• To supervise children's hygiene, self-care, and clothing organization;
• To provide basic education elements (reading, writing, and numeracy) to children when needed;
• To organize various activities (entertainment, cognitive, sports) for children and participate in them;
• To administer medication when prescribed for a child;
• To keep records of behavioral and emotional problems of children using the shelter and day center when necessary;
• To participate in compiling an individual service plan for a child with a multidisciplinary team when necessary;
• To complete a child's intake protocol/ relevant document upon admission to the center when necessary;
• To ensure children's safe transportation to and from school following relevant rules;
• To maintain the confidentiality of beneficiary information;
• To provide comprehensive information about children's condition to the next shift at the end of the shift;
• To inform the coordinator-leader, social worker, and psychologist in a timely manner about difficult situations;
• To comply with the internal regulations/standards of the day center and shelter;
• To collaborate actively with day center staff and the coordinator-leader;
• To perform other tasks assigned by the direct supervisor within the competence of the position.

Mandatory Requirements

• Secondary education; higher or relevant special education in pedagogy/caregiving is preferred;
• Experience working with children and young people in a care institution (at least 2 years);
• Similar work experience (at least 2 years);
• Communication skills;
• Teamwork skills;
• Organizational and planning/management skills;
• Attention to detail;
• Ability to manage difficult situations.
