Academic Positions

LLC "Tbilisi Humanitarian University" (hereinafter - THU) announces an open competition for the following academic positions:

1. Faculty of Healthcare:

a) For Georgian, English, and Russian language one-stage educational programs in Stomatology:

2 Associate Professors.

2. Faculty of Law, Business, Humanities, and Social Sciences

a) For Georgian and English language undergraduate programs in Business Administration: 1 Professor (specialization in Business Administration);

3. Competition conditions:

Professor:

3.1. A person may be elected to the academic position of Professor for a term of 6 years if: a) They have a doctoral academic degree or an equivalent academic degree; b) They have at least 6 years of experience in scientific-pedagogical work; c) They have published at least 3 scientific papers in the last 5 years, demonstrating their competence in the relevant field; d) They present, in electronic and printed form, a syllabus/syllabi prepared in the academic discipline provided for by the educational program implemented by the relevant faculty; e) They meet other competition conditions approved by the legislation of Georgia and/or the Academic Council of THU.

Associate Professor:

3.2. A person may be elected to the academic position of Associate Professor for a term of 6 years if: a) They have a doctoral academic degree or an equivalent academic degree; b) They have at least 3 years of experience in scientific-pedagogical work, and in the case of one-stage educational programs, additionally have at least 5 years of clinical experience; c) They have published at least 2 scientific papers in the last 5 years, demonstrating their competence in the relevant field; d) They present, in electronic and printed form, a syllabus/syllabi prepared in the academic discipline provided for by the educational program implemented by the relevant faculty; e) They meet other competition conditions approved by the legislation of Georgia and/or the Academic Council of THU.

3.3. In accordance with paragraphs 4 and 5 of Article 35 of the Georgian Law "On Higher Education", a person without an academic degree may also be elected to an academic position based on their professional qualifications.

For the position of Associate Professor:

a) Master's degree or equivalent academic degree;

b) At least 5 years of experience in the relevant field, related to practical activities in leading positions (the content of practical activities can be specified based on the specifics of the program);

c) Scientific publication(s) published in the last 10 years in the direction of the relevant academic course(s);

d) Vision of academic activity.

4. Additional Information: Labor relations and affiliation with academic staff:

4.1. The contestant can submit an application for only one competitive academic position;

4.2. After the selection of academic staff through an open competition, the rector of THU will issue an order to appoint them to academic positions.

4.3. A labor contract is concluded with the academic staff for the term of their election to the academic position, in accordance with the Georgian labor legislation.

4.4. Academic staff is affiliated with the university if: a labor contract is concluded with them and they do not have an affiliation agreement or an employment contract confirming affiliation with another higher education institution, they participate in the development of society and knowledge sharing only on their own or on behalf of THU, they have a corresponding minimum academic workload at THU, determined by the rector's order;

4.5. Affiliated academic staff is not obliged to fulfill the corresponding minimum academic workload if: they do not cooperate with any other higher education institution; they are employed in parallel at an administrative/auxiliary (not academic) position at the university;

4.6. A labor contract is concluded with academic staff who are not affiliated with the university.

5. Competitive criteria for academic staff of foreign language programs:

5.1. For a competition announced to implement a foreign language program or a foreign language component of a program, an additional criterion is the confirmation of the contestant's language competence in the language of the program's component, if that language is not the contestant's native language.

5.2. The contestant's language competence will be considered confirmed in one of the following cases:

a) By presenting a document confirming the highest education in the relevant language;

b) By presenting an internationally recognized certificate of language competence, which confirms that the applicant has a language proficiency of at least B2 level, in accordance with the European Language Competence Framework (CEFR) established by the European Language Competence Framework.

c) By presenting a certificate confirming three years of experience in teaching a foreign language program at an authorized higher education institution in Georgia;

The following are considered internationally recognized certificates confirming B2 level language proficiency:

a) Cambridge English First (FCE)

b) BEC Vantage

c) IELTS 5-6.5

d) TOEFL iBT 87-109

e) Michigan ECCE

f) PTE General Level 3

g) PTE Academic 59-75

h) Trinity ISE II

5.3. An academic competition participant who fails to confirm language competence in the manner prescribed by paragraph 5.2 is obliged to conduct a demonstration lecture in a foreign language or take a language competence test through an exam test prepared by the university before the commission. The test questions and competence threshold are determined by the university.
